What is counselling

‘Desire to become everything one is capable of becoming’ (Maslow)

Often people come to counselling because they have lost a sense of self, meaning or purpose, finding they are repeatedly falling into patterns of behaviour, and are looking to find a way to move forward. Counselling can help you understand the feelings that underpin spirals, recognise patterns and explore different ways to understand and reconnect with those around you.

Most of us experience times in our lives when we struggle to cope, or feel we are stuck, counselling is about communication and connection, working together towards change. If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stressed, counselling can look at how past experiences and present stresses are linked, which can lead to a more creative understanding of yourself within these situations.

The Greek have a word ‘eudaimonia’ which means flourishing, the art of living well, this describes a life of connection, meaning and purpose. Counselling can provide a space to reconnect with your sense of self or meaning, finding ways to set boundaries and change patterns of behaviour, giving you the opportunity to live more fully.
